Description

LAUNCH F18 is delighted to feature Brooklyn based artist, Corinne Bernard in its online Viewing Room.  We are pleased to present a selection of recent works, as well as several pieces from her prolific 2018-2019 series, VFGA: The Moment I Can't Return.  Quietly playing with narrative and storytelling, Corinne has created a visual catalogue of memories and moments, each one dramatically unique from one to the next.  At first glance, one would almost assume that these works were made from multiple artists, but for Corinne it's an astonishing example of the technical diversity she holds as an artist.

As her process varies from work to work, it accentuates the uniqueness of each moment that these pieces contain. Much like our own memories, Corinne captures moments in time, sometimes seeming similar, but never truly like any other moment before or after.  Of the 13 works included, they in many ways are a small diary or personal history of the artist.  A history however that we all share, from love, to loss, and the unique experiences we all take part in that connect us as humans.  These works within VFGA: The Moment I Can’t Return take us to places far beyond the work itself, pulling at the feelings and emotions from deep within, and carrying personal and meaningful memories along through the experience of Bernard’s creations.

“I like to think of all of my works as an intervention because, while I give birth to the works and they are derived from my life experiences, I also feel that there is another source driving me. I think my best works are created when I allow myself to trust that source.” - Corinne Bernard

This unique presentation will be available for viewing from April 30 - May 30, 2020.
