Joy Drury Cox was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. She attended Emory University where she earned a B.A. in English and a minor in Studio Art. She graduated from the University of Florida with an M.F.A. in Studio Art in 2006. Recent exhibitions include “Home,” Station 21, Zurich, Switzerland (2013); “1XX,” Launch F18, New York (2013); “Artist/Novelist,” Museum of Modern Art, New York (2014); “The Whales of August,” Wayfarers Gallery, Brooklyn, NY (2014). In 2011 Cox participated in The New Museum’s Festival For New Ideas at Old School with her exhibition Some Titled In The Library.  Her first publication, Old Man and Sea was published by Conveyor Arts in 2012.
