LAUNCH F18 is delighted to present Wreaths: 2019 - Ongoing, a viewing room of new sculptural works by Atlanta based artist, Robert Chamberlin. This unique presentation opens on May 6, 2021 and remains on view through June 17, 2021.
“These objects are both meant as a celebration and a marking of time - an acknowledgment of what we have lost and gained.”
– Robert Chamberlin
Robert Chamberlin is an innate storyteller. Within his sculptures lies a tension of construction and deconstruction, building balance by dismantling which as a result captures within one piece the ability to mourn and celebrate. Wreaths: 2019 – Ongoing highlights a new and developing body of work by Chamberlin, constructing a sense of the world that is animated through his sculptural gestures engrained within these pieces.
Like the porcelain used to create these three-dimensional sculptures, history itself is also a medium within these wreaths, drawing from a culmination of experiences that are personal, cultural, celebratory, and traumatic all within one. These works are Chamberlin written large, and capture the complexities of the world we find ourselves in today. “We have been asked to hold things together while occasionally being allowed to let things glitch and unravel” says Chamberlin. It is this dance we face that Robert has captured beautifully throughout this new series of sculptures. Meticulously building flowers, petals and leaves, Wreaths: 2019 – Ongoing is an overture of Chamberlin’s passionate and mystical world.
